ROMULUS and Hanley Town fought out an entertaining 2-2 draw in the Midland Football League Premier at Castle Vale last night (Monday).
A free kick from Safyan Zia opened the scoring for Romulus before Jake Twyford equalised for the table toppers on 21 minutes and Chris Dagnall gave them a 2-1 lead on 80 minutes in a crowded penalty area. Deshon Carty squeezed a shot in the top corner of the net on 87 minutes to grab an equaliser for Roms who are ninth in the table whilst Hanley are seven points clear at the top. Premier action tonight (Tuesday) sees Racing Club Warwick at home to fourth placed Lichfield City and Walsall Wood at home to AFC Wulfrunians. In the first division Dudley Town host Atherstone Town who are in top spot but went out of the FA Vase at the weekend to Whitchurch Alport. Congleton - who beat Highgate United 4-0 away on Saturday - are eighth in the North West Counties League Premier Division. If Walsall Wood beat Anstey Nomads in their rearranged third round game on Saturday they will travel to Wroxham who are second in the Eastern Counties League. The fourth round games will take place on Saturday January 15 2022 with the winning teams getting £1,875 and the losing team £600 from the FA Vase 2021-22 prize fund. |
