Runcorn Town closed the gap at the top of the table on a day of comebacks in the Capelli Sport MFL Premier.
Town eventually won 3-2 at AFC Wolverhampton City despite Liam Kennington’s early effort being wiped out by a Dan Munday double before half-time.
Jamie Apperley levelled for Town just past the hour with Alfie Jones-Mellor getting the winner with five minutes left.
That result saw Runcorn move to within eight points of the summit with three games in hand as Abbey Hulton United twice overcame deficits to win 3-2 at leaders Winsford United.
Jordan Johnson’s early penalty put Winsford in front and while Logan Cousins levelled, Josh Hall restored the home side’s advantage seven minutes before half-time.
Matt Ward scored from a Cousins pass to equalise again early in the second half and a Jack Gumbley header from an Alex Morris cross decided it with seven minutes to go, ending Winsford’s impressive five-match winning streak in the MFL.
Sutton United erased the pain of back-to-back league defeats by recovering from an early deficit to beat Brocton 2-1, leapfrogging their visitors in the process.
Reg Smith put the Badgers in front only for Jayden Hunter to quickly level. Aidan Mee’s goal on the hour gave Neil Tooth’s men all three points.
Two goals in as many second-half minutes saw Whitchurch Alport fight back to end a run of four straight MFL losses, winning 3-1 at Uttoxeter Town.
Jake Avery put the hosts in front on eight minutes but Josh Madeley levelled with a back-post header early in the second half. That was swiftly followed by a composed finish from Ollie Holden who later wrapped up the points with a delightful lob.
Oumar Camara got both as West Didsbury & Chorlton fought back from behind to win 2-1 at Lye Town. The hosts led within four minutes through Danny Cartwright.
Northwich Victoria remain undefeated in the league after a 6-0 demolition of Stone Old Alleynians.
Ryan Atkinson broke the deadlock late in the first half with Elliott Rokka getting a swift second. Sean Higgins made it three after the break with Rokka’s two in three minutes completing his hat-trick. Matt Birchall rounded off the scoring.
Cheadle Town moved into the play-off places with a 3-0 win at Tividale, Tom Jones, Ethan Padden and Ibrahima Diop netting in the second half at The Beeches.
Wythenshawe Town’s persistence paid off in a 3-1 win over Darlaston Town. Charlie Martin’s early goal was cancelled out by Lucas Edmonds shortly before the break but Sam Muyengwa and Kris Smith netted in the final 16 minutes for the hosts.
Eli Enyan’s double helped Dudley Town to make it five unbeaten in the MFL, sharing a topsy-turvy 2-2 draw with Romulus. Joel Omorodion put the Roms in front, Enyan’s brace turned the tide but new boy Jamal Adams secured a share of the spoils.
Marvellous Onabirekhanlen’s 90th-minute effort saw Sporting Khalsa win 1-0 at Stockport Georgians.
