UNBEATEN in eight MFL games with two wins from two in September, Kenilworth Sporting finish the month among the Division Two frontrunners.
Curtis Cutts currently leads the goalscoring charts with eight from ten starts including a hat-trick in their latest league outing – a 4-1 win at Fairfield Villa. He was also on the scoresheet in Sporting’s other September game, a 2-1 defeat of Inkberrow.
That run of form has lifted the Gypsy Lane side up to fifth, paying the price for defeat in their opening two matches. One of these was against Earlswood Town, the only unbeaten side in the division who lie second having rounded off September with a 1-1 draw at home to fellow high-fliers Cadbury Athletic. The Earls won 3-0 at Coventry Alvis at the start of the month.
Birmingham United top the table with a two-point cushion but suffered their first defeat at the end of the month when they lost 2-0 at Cadbury. Earlier in the month they had seen off Central Ajax 3-0 and Inkberrow 2-1.
In-form Cadbury Athletic are third thanks to that victory over the leaders when John Baker and Jack Ricketts scored, the latter notching his fourth goal in as many games. Callum Burston-Keeley is the club’s leading scorer though with nine goals to his name.
Fourth-placed Hampton had a mixed September with one win, one draw and a defeat, while sixth-placed Coventry Colliery have another of the league’s leading marksmen in the nine-goal Tyrone Wilson.
City neighbours Coventrians lost both of their games and prop up the table without a win while next-to-bottom Inkberrow also suffered back-to-back defeats despite pushing top-five sides Kenilworth Sporting and Birmingham United all the way in 2-1 losses.
Two goals from Shaune Allen helped AFC Solihull to a 2-2 draw at Colliery but the Rumbush Lane side lost their other match against Nuneaton Griff.
Paget Rangers chalked up a win and a defeat during the month and it was the same story for Central Ajax, William Lowis scoring all four goals on his debut as they beat Coventrians 5-1.
There was a win and a loss for both Nuneaton Griff and Coventry Alvis while Fairfield Villa picked up a solitary point with a 2-2 draw with Hampton.
Wake Green Amateur and Bolehall Swifts sit just outside the drop zone. The former beat Hampton 2-0 thanks to an Amaan Sheraz double but lost to Swifts who then lost to Coventry Alvis and Hampton.
