DUDLEY Town claimed the bragging rights in an entertaining Black Country derby, coming out on top in a thrilling seven-goal tussle at Lye Town.
Goals from Alfie Steward and Luke Sidaway steered the hosts into a two-goal lead inside 25 minutes but this to galvanise the Robins who hit back through Billy Moore and Omario Ford before a bullet header from James Hales handed them a 3-2 interval lead.
A second goal from Sidaway made it all-square early in the second period only for Ryan Snape to restore Dudley’s lead on the hour.
There was still drama though with Lye being awarded a penalty 15 minutes from time only for Joe Cuneen to deny them.
West Didsbury & Chorlton also bagged the points with a 4-3 win as they edged out visitors Whitchurch Alport.
Goals from Adrian Kandeke, Latiq Roberts, Billy Hasler-Cregg and an own goal wrapped up the win with Liam Armstrong (two) and Adam Hailes on the scoresheet for Whitchurch in front of an amazing 1,509 fans.
Winsford United maintained their five-point lead at the top of the table thanks to a 4-1 win at Tividale. Two goals from Josh Hall together with others from Jordan Johnson and Diego Esquivel-McGann secured the points, Ben Corfield with the consolation for the basement club.
It was the same scoreline as second-placed Runcorn Town saw off Stone Old Alleynians. Tom Shaw scored twice to add to earlier goals from Kieran Alley and Jamie Apperley – all of them in the second half.
Goals from Charlie King and Morgan Payne gave Brocton a 2-0 win at AFC Wolverhampton City while Carl Pendlebury’s goal was enough to hand Stockport Georgians a 1-0 win at home to Darlaston Town.
Northwich Victoria were 1-0 winners at home to Uttoxeter Town thanks to Luc Ferry scoring on the hour while Isai Marselia netted a late equaliser as Sporting Khalsa drew with Cheadle Town 2-2. Narel Phillips had given the hosts an early lead only for Ethan Padden and Cody Artwell to swing the game in the Cheshire side’s favour.
Elsewhere, goals from Logan Cousins and Matt Ward helped Abbey Hulton United beat Romulus 2-1 and a Matt Bishop double together with a Ben George effort helped Sutton United to a 3-1 win over Wythenshawe Town, Kris Smith with their goal.
