Capelli Sport MFL Division One round-up & Step 5/6 fixtures – Saturday, October 3

KEY matches at both ends of the table saw wins for Northfield Town and Stapenhill while leading pair Heather St John’s and Gornal Athletic both bagged wins on the road.

The match of the day saw fourth-placed Northfield host the team just above them, Lutterworth Athletic. And it was the Birmingham side who came out on top despite having a player sent off just before half-time with hot shot Romano Graham scoring a hat-trick in a 3-0 victory.

At the other end of the table, Stapenhill hosted fellow strugglers Boldmere Rangers. The visitors took an early lead through Luca Jones but the Swans immediately hit back through Tobias Mott before Callum Riddle’s effort secured a 2-1 win.

Leaders Heather St John’s were 2-0 winners at Birmingham OJM thanks to goals inside the opening 12 minutes from Will Groocock and Charles Reginald Trezise-Bruce and second-placed Gornal Athletic won 3-0 at AFC North Kilworth where there were two goals for Ryan Winwood and one from Dan Hadley.

Coalville Town were the day’s top scorers, enjoying a 6-3 victory at Cradley Town to keep them in the top five. Ryan Green scored twice with the others coming from Tom Mangan, Ryan Seal, George Hockey and Zac Smithson. Cradley, who had led 2-1 early in the second half, scored through James Underhill, Jobee Mills and Callum North.

Ryan Charles helped himself to a hat-trick as Ingles beat Anstey Town 4-0, Brad Coleman with the other, and there were two goals for Adan Neal and one from Nick Reeves as Birstall United beat Chelmsley Town 3-1. Sam Kayode was on target for the home side.

FCV Grace Dieu and Coventry Copsewood played out a goalless draw and the points were also shared at Holwell Sports who drew 1-1 with Bustleholme, Brooke Isherwood for the hosts and Ibrahim Sillah with the late equaliser for the Ray Hall Lane outfit.

GNG Oadby Town were 3-2 victors at Saffron Dynamo, Solomon Agyeman with the 90th minute winner. Nuno Gomes and Tom Vyce also scored for Town while Carlton Beardmore and Jude Edwards responded for the hosts.
