COALVILLE Town ended Northfield Town’s perfect start to the season, running out 4-2 winners at The Volt.
The Ravens handed a debut to former Nuneaton Borough midfielder Alex Lock and he immediately made his presence felt, picking up a booking after just four minutes – one of a number of yellow cards branded throughout the game.
The home side opened the scoring on nine minutes when Ronnie Morley turned in a Scott McManus cross with MJ Semahimbo doubling the lead on 22 minutes with a deft lob over the keeper.
Joe Rooney halved the arrears just before the break and it needed some excellent work from Ravens keeper Nykay Liburd-Hines to stop Romano Graham from equalising early in the second half.
Further goals from Freddy Webb and Morley wrapped up the points for Carl Adams’ side before Graham bagged scored a second for the visitors late on.
That result means leaders Gornal Athletic are the only side with a perfect record after they beat Kirby Muxloe 5-2. Joel Westwood, Brad Maslen-Jones, Mitch Botfield, Brad Ward and Trevaey Wright were on target with Lucca Watson-Quilter scoring both goals for the visitors.
Heather St John’s remain second following their 2-2 draw at Bustleholme where Anton Nesbeth and Evangel Oppong netted for the hosts with Kyle Jardine scoring a brace for the visitors.
Coventry Copsewood posted their first win in dramatic style, romping to a 5-1 victory at fellow strugglers Anstey Town helped by a Sean Kavanagh double and further goals from George Steele, Will Boden and Kejie Adenyi. Logan Aston responded from the penalty spot.
There was also a first win for Holwell Sports as they edged out FCV Grace Dieu 2-1, Jake O’Reilly and Jamie King scoring before Ernest Osaretin grabbed a consolation.
A Jude Coates double handed AFC North Kilworth a 2-0 win at Birstall United while goals from Tom Hill, Zak Adams and two from Tom Harris eased Leicester St Andrews to a 4-0 win over Cradley Town.
Jack Coles scored twice and there was another from Matty L’Anson as Saffron Dynamo beat Boldmere Rangers 3-2, Lewis Capper-Imms and Lucas Edwards for the visitors, while Daniel Childs and Joshua Thompson goals saw Lutterworth Athletic come from behind to beat Ingles 2-1, Mack Armstrong with their effort.
Alfie Chatwin handed Chelmsley Town an early lead at home to GNG Oadby Town but the Leicestershire side hit back in the second half with goals from Hamdi Barreh, Billy Tebbatt, Kyron Stabana, Tom Vyce and Jack Gunn to claim a 5-1 victory.
