WITH Gornal Athletic’s match against Ingles being one of two postponed due to Storm Boelo, Northfield Town took full advantage and rose to the top with a 2-1 victory at Holwell Sports.
Leading scorer Romano Graham opened the scoring for the visitors early on with Benny Omorogbe equalising around the hour mark. It looked as though the points would be shared until Rob Shaw popped up with Northfield’s 89th minute winner.
Match of the day was at the Voltage Solutions Stadium where 257 watched fourth-placed Coalville Town draw 1-1 with the side just below them in the table, Leicester St Andrews. Ryan Sahota handed the hosts the lead just before half-time only for Logan Aston to level things up nine minutes from time.
Heather St John’s suffered a surprise 2-1 home defeat at the hands of lowly Boldmere Rangers. Kyle Jardine gave the league’s high-fliers the lead early doors but second half goals from Cal Thorpe and Lucas Edwards ensured the points headed back to Boldmere.
Fellow strugglers Stapenhill picked up a useful point with a 2-2 draw at Bustleholme. Ibrahim Sillah and Anton Nesbeth scored for the home side while Louis Robotham and Callum Riddle were on target for the Swans.
The points were also shared as AFC North Kilworth drew 1-1 at Anstey Town, Archie Gallagher putting the visitors ahead on 25 minutes before Szym Donnerstag equalised midway through the second half.
Dolton Taylor scored twice for Kirby Muxloe in their 3-3 draw at FCV Grace Dieu with Patrick Musengwa bagging the other. But the Thringstone-based side finished the stronger with Ernest Osaretin, Jerrell Sellars and Sean Tomlinson scoring in the final 15 minutes to salvage a point.
GNG Oadby Town romped to a 5-0 win over visitors Birstall United with doubles for Ali Ashkir and Karum Shankar and one from Solomon Agyeman.
Brady Middleton and Adam Shaw scored the goals for Lutterworth Athletic in their 2-1 win at Coventry Copsewood for whom Sean Kavanagh was on target. And it was the same scoreline at Saffron Dynamo where a third minute Carlton Beardmore penalty was not enough to deny Chelmsley Town who quickly levelled through James McGrane who then grabbed the winner eight minutes from time.
Cradley Town’s match with Birmingham OJM was the other game to be postponed.
