ZAK Adams was the toast of Leicester St Andrews after his first half double secured a 2-1 win at previously unbeaten Gornal Athletic, knocking the Black Country side off top spot.
There were just four minutes on the clock when he opened the scoring, bagging his second midway through the first half. Charlie Andrews then kept out a Gornal penalty just before the break and although the hosts pulled a goal back through Brad Maslen-Jones early in the second period, the Drews held on for victory with the visitors having Brad Ward sent off ten minutes from time.
That result allowed Heather St John’s to climb to the top following their 3-1 defeat of Birstall United. Max Dutton opened the scoring with a header on the half-hour before Nathan McGarity and Kyle Woodbridge extended the lead in the second half. Reece Lefley scored Birstall’s consolation late on.
Goals from Elijah Kazimirow and Shay Young gave third-placed Lutterworth Athletic a 2-0 win at home to Boldmere Rangers while three goals in five first half minutes from Brogan Halpin, Romano Graham and Harry Wilson helped Northfield Town to a 4-0 win at Stapenhill, Reis Sanusi with the other late on.
Coalville Town complete the top five after they edged out Anstey Town 1-0 at Beaumont Park, a game that saw both sides finish with ten men. Tom Mangan scored the only goal from the penalty spot while teammate Ryan Sahota and Anstey’s Thomas Barsby saw red.
Two goals from Jack Allen and one from Charlie Yates helped Ingles to a 3-1 victory over Birmingham OJM who responded through Reece Morris. Coventry Copsewood were also among the goals as they eased to a 4-0 win at home to Kirby Muxloe, Joe Miles with the first half opener followed by efforts from Alex Barnett, Elliott Pratt and Sean Kavanagh.
Carlton Beardmore’s 16th minute goal was enough to give Saffron Dynamo the points at home to Cradley Town and Chelmsley Town were also 1-0 winners against Holwell Sports, Tom Marshall with the late decider.
A first half double from Alfie Wright was not enough for FCV Grace Dieu as they slipped to a 3-2 defeat at Bustleholme who hit back through Keatley Charles, Callum Lawton and Lewis Smith. GNG Oadby Town beat AFC North Kilworth 2-0.
