Division One round-up and step 5/6 fixtures – Saturday, August 15

GORNAL Athletic are sitting pretty at the top of the table, one of just two teams with a perfect record, their 6-2 defeat of Saffron Dynamo keeping them top on goal difference.
Brad Maslen-Jones and Traevay Wright bagged a brace apiece with the others coming from Joel Westwood and substitute Taylor Homer. Jack Coles and Kyle Warren scored for the visitors.
Northfield Town also made it four wins from four with a 3-1 victory at AFC North Kilworth. Ethan Hanks bagged a double off the bench to add to Dan Wootten’s effort with the home side’s goal coming from Archie Gallacher.
Birstall United bounced back from a midweek defeat at FCV Grace Dieu to see off visitors Kirby Muxloe 1-0 to take third place, the goal coming from Dom Watts midway through the second half.
Goals from Charles Trezise-Bruce, Kyle Jardine and Jack Hession were just enough for Heather St John’s in their 3-2 win at Chelmsley Town who replied through Charlie Noakes and Jay Payne.
The game between GNG Oadby Town and FCV Grace Dieu finished goalless while Birmingham OJM won 2-1 at Lutterworth Athletic – Alex Vineall for the Leicestershire side with Reece Morris netting both for OJM including a 90th minute winner.
In the FA Vase, Anstey Town progressed to the next round thanks to an excellent 2-0 win at Clay Cross Town where Conor Jackson scored both. Coventry Copsewood also made it through but needed penalties to see off Droitwich Spa following a 0-0 draw.
Leicester St Andrews went out on penalties at home to Southwell City following a 1-1 draw where Sam Preston was on target while Stapenhill were edged out 1-0 by Ludlow Town.
Boldmere Rangers suffered a 4-0 defeat at Atherstone Town, Holwell Sports lost by the same scoreline at home to Shirebrook Town and Cradley Town were beaten 5-3 at Coventry Sphinx – Callum North, Ricardo Jarrett and Jobee Mills with their goals.
